Interested in a Home Theater?
We’ve all had the dream of having a home theater, the pinnacle of entertainment and comfort. Sitting in a big comfy chair, surrounded by speakers, looking at a big screen showing your favorite movies! Sounds like the life, doesn’t it? The only problem is, how do you make that happen? With an investment, converting an underutilized room, and the help of the professionals at The Sights & Sounds Company, that dream can be a reality!
The first step in making your dreams come true is picking the spot. Most people may only have one extra room they’re able to convert into a theater, but if you have options, let’s discuss which room would serve you best. Careful consideration must be made when setting up a home theater. The size of the room may be your first thought, but there are other factors that may be more important. How many windows does a room have? How’s the wiring in the room? Does it have carpet or wood floors? In general, you want a room with as little windows as possible to reduce light and preferably carpet to improve sound quality. If you’re unsure which room in your home would work best, the experts at S&S are here to assist you!
Now what about the technical aspects of the theater? While Sights & Sounds is able to create the optimal experience for you, everyone has different preferences! For example, a home theater can either have a projector or a large TV. While some swear by the projector, some limitations may prevent you from utilizing one. Mainly the size and setup of your theater, as projectors require space and a clear view to actually project the image on the screen. You may simply prefer using a TV, or you may already own a TV you’re happy to use in your theater. If sightlines, mounting, or wiring are an issue, a TV is the way to go. However, projectors have come a long way in recent years, with their price to picture quality being downright astounding. Similarly, decent 4K TVs have become very inexpensive now. With so many features and benefits it can be a difficult decision to make, but one everyone will be happy with regardless of what you choose!
For a real theater experience, you can’t skimp on sound! We recommend a 5.1 surround sound setup, which includes two left and right speakers (in-front and slightly behind to the sides), a center speaker, and a subwoofer. 7.1 sound can also be had, but most home theaters won’t require it. However, it all comes down to personal preference! As the name implies, 7.1 adds two more speakers into the mix. These extra speakers wrap even further behind the viewer. Size constraints will be the primary limiting factor for 7.1 sound, as it requires ample room in every direction.
